What Are You Afraid Of?

One of the books on the Summer Reading List by Sally Snyder (Nebraska Library Commission) for Young Adults is a collection of short stories - What Are You Afraid Of? Edited by Gallo. It's a collection of short stories, fictional stories, on youth phobias. One of my feelings after reading was sadness that the teens seemed to be so alone in dealing with their phobias - and hesitated to reach out to others for help.

I will reiterate, they did all turn to friends or adults in the end, while many had friends with them from the beginning on their phobias. Since we are dealing with young adults, I think it's important to remember that they often attempt to problem solve on their own or with their friends w/o bringing adults into the equation.
Phobias can make one feel isolated, but I don't think any of these stories showed true isolation.
